Juan de Dios was born in the city of Ahuachapan, El Salvador and grew up in a christian family. In January of 2004 he became the part-time coordinator of Volunteers in Mission for the Methodist Church in El Salvador. In December 2005 he left his job working as a financial officer for the city of Ahuachapan to be the coordinator for Volunteers in Mission full-time. In 2007 Juan de Dios was elected as the president of the Methodist Church in El Salvador while continuing to host national and international mission teams. Juan de Dios has a yearning to help people in need and to project the church in El Salvador as the middle of spiritual salvation while relieving others of hunger, misery, poverty, illiteracy, and the marginalization of so many wrongs that greatly affect the people of El Salvador.
